The grill plate is made from solid cast iron weighing 4.1 kg, providing an outstanding ability to distribute and retain heat. This ensures even cooking of all ingredients and a beautiful caramelisation that enhances the flavour. The hardwearing enamel coating protects the cast iron and gradually develops a natural patina that acts as a non-stick surface. To preserve this property, it is recommended that you clean the plate with warm water without washing-up liquid or scouring pads.

Designed specifically for open flame

This grill plate has been specially developed for use over a charcoal grill or in a wood-fired oven. It handles temperatures from -23°C to an impressive 450°C, giving you flexibility in your cooking. Always remember to place the grill plate on a rack with a minimum of 5 cm clearance from the heat source. Please note that the plate must not be used in a conventional oven, pizza oven, on a gas hob or directly over glowing embers. For safety reasons, avoid pouring oil directly onto the plate, as it may run through the holes and cause flare-ups.

Care for a long service life

To get the most out of your Le Creuset grill plate, always allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Burnt-on food residue can be removed by soaking the plate in warm water for 15–20 minutes. Only use wooden, silicone or heat-resistant plastic utensils to protect the enamel coating. The square shape makes the plate easy to store, and the black colour conceals any discolouration from the grill.
