Duralex offers French quality and timeless design. Since 1945, the brand has produced tempered glass in the town of La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin and is today recognised as a pioneer in the field. The combination of classic craftsmanship, technical strength and functional design makes Duralex a popular choice in both professional kitchens and private homes worldwide.
At HWL, you’ll find a selection of Duralex products – including drinking glasses and glass bowls in various sizes. They all share the same high quality, exceptional durability and elegant, functional form that defines Duralex’s design philosophy. These products are built to last for many years, and their timeless expression suits any kitchen environment.
The story of Duralex begins in the heart of France, where the brand in 1945 developed and patented its unique tempered-glass process. This technology made it possible to produce glassware that is both beautiful and exceptionally durable. Today, all Duralex glass is still manufactured in France, and every product undergoes strict quality control to ensure the high standard that has made the brand world-renowned.
What sets Duralex apart is its fully tempered glass. By heating the glass to around 650°C and then rapidly cooling it with cold air, internal tension is created within the material, making it up to 2.5 times stronger than standard glass. The result is glassware that withstands sudden temperature changes, impacts and the daily demands of professional environments.
Duralex products are made to be used – again and again. The glasses and bowls are safe for microwave, dishwasher, freezer and oven, which makes them extremely versatile. They are non-porous, meaning they do not absorb liquids, odours or bacteria, and they are naturally free from lead, cadmium and BPA. Duralex glassware is also stackable, taking up minimal space – a major advantage in busy kitchens, cafés and canteens.
