Care Guide
Stoneware is a robust material fired at high temperatures. The higher the temperature, the greater the strength – and RAW stoneware is fired at very high temperatures exceeding 1200°C. However, all stoneware risks breaking if struck against a hard surface or dropped. Handle with care and follow this care guide, and in return it can last for a great many years.
As long as you follow certain precautions, RAW stoneware can withstand the dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer. However, never place stoneware directly into a preheated oven, and likewise avoid placing piping hot stoneware directly onto a cold worktop. Large temperature differences can cause stoneware to crack and break. It should therefore be heated gently and cooled down slowly.
The same applies when using it in the freezer. You can certainly place RAW stoneware in the freezer, but it should always be thawed slowly to avoid cracking and breakage.
RAW stoneware is handmade and has a scratch-resistant glaze, but do not worry if your stoneware and porcelain nevertheless develop signs of use such as cutlery marks and minor scratches. This is entirely normal and can usually be removed with Vienna lime – always follow the instructions.
