Preserve the shape of your grinding wheel

With repeated use, a grinding wheel can become uneven or oval. The Tormek TT-50 allows you to quickly restore the wheel's round and flat shape, which is particularly important when sharpening plane irons and flat steel. The precise truing ensures consistent results and extends the life of the grinding wheel.

The truing tool works with all Tormek machines fitted with a universal support, but must not be used on diamond grinding wheels, as these have a steel construction that can damage both the tool and the stone.

High precision and easy operation

The TT-50 is made from precision cast zinc, providing a stable construction with minimal play. The diamond tip is guided smoothly across the stone using the two adjustment knobs, giving full control and delivering a smooth, even surface free of deep marks.

The tool is guided by the universal support, ensuring that the stone's surface is always adjusted parallel to the sharpening jig. The depth of cut can be set precisely using the Micro Adjust feature on the universal support, which has a clear scale with intervals of 0.25 mm for accurate material removal.

Choose the surface coarseness

By adjusting the feed rate, you can determine how coarse the surface of the stone should be. A faster feed (approx. 30 sec.) produces a coarser texture, well suited to sharpening hard steel. A slower feed (approx. 90 sec.) gives a finer surface with fewer visible tracks. Regardless of speed, however, the surface will always be coarser than when using the coarse side of the SP-650 Stone Grader.

Compatibility with older models

If you have an older Tormek machine without Micro Adjust on the universal support, you can upgrade with the US-105 Universal Support (for the T-8 and older 250 mm models) or the US-103 Universal Support (for the T-4 and older 200 mm models). This allows the TT-50 to be used to its full potential with the same precision and comfort.

Replacing the diamond tip

The diamond tip on the TT-50 can be easily replaced when worn. Use the ADV-D Diamond Exchange Tip as a spare part. You may first try rotating the worn diamond tip slightly – new diamonds on the tip can often be activated in this way, allowing the tool to perform optimally again.
